Authorisation Guide
This chapter contains a short guide for authorization (licensing) of MDESIGN with FLEXlm tool. Read: Licensing End User Guide for more information.
MDESIGN licensing uses so called Node-Locked and / or Floating License models.
Node-Locked license means, that the local or network installation will be linked directly with your hardware.
It has been realized through so called computer or workstation HOSTIDs, which should be sent to producer
in the HOSTID file(s).
Floating license means, that only certain maximal number of clients can use the program in a network.
The authorization of MDESIGN software requires following steps:
- install FLEXlm from MDESIGN CD
- create HOSTID file and send it to producer (TEDATA GmbH or another)
- receive the license files and copy them to the directory "..\MDESIGN\License files". Restart Windows or reread license files and restart FLEXlm service
After that MDESIGN is ready for work according to purchased license.
1. FLEXlm installation
For authorization of MDESIGN FLEXlm, Version 11.x, Copyright © 2006 Acresso Software Inc. has been used.
FLEXlm should be installed on a server or locally on your computer (if you use local installation). Please don't install FLEXlm on a client in a network.
The FLEXlm installation should be started from MDESIGN installation wizard. Please press the button "FLEXlm" and follow the installation instructions. FLEXlm files and also MDESIGN specifi FLEXlm files will be copied in the diretory "...\FLEXlm\MDESIGN". Please note, that the starting license files should be already installed by MDESIGN installation in the directory "...\MDESIGN\License files". The should be substituted through the new license files after receiving them.
2. Creating the HOSTID File(s)
MDESIGN can start without a purchased license (license files), but is not fully executable. In order to receive the purchased license you should send a corresponded hardware information to producer. For the local installation that is your workstation ID, for the network installation you should receive this info from your server and/or clients where you have installed MDESIGN.
The HOSTID file will be created with HOSTID assistant. You find the assistant:
- by the network installation: in the MDESIGN administrator menu "Installation/HOSTID Assistant". In the case the server HOSTID only, it is possible to use also the menu of MDESIGN explorer: "Help/Authorization"
- by the local installation: in the MDESIGN explorer menu "Help/Authorization".

1) Company information
The fields "Company", "Address", "Phone", "E-mail" required, the field "Authentification number" should be filled out only in case you have an agreement.
2) License request file (HOSTID file)
The assistant enables to send a file per email (checkbox on), you can also save it and send it per email later or per post on a data medium (disk).
3) Send request
The HOSTID file will be sent by pressing the button "Next".
If you need to change one or more computers in your network, you should repeat this procedure for each new computer.
3. Installation of License Files
After sending HOSTID file(s) you receive an email that the license files are ready in your user area to be picked up.
The files are in a ZIP archive and should be copied in the directory "...\MDESIGN\License files" on your working station or on the server (for network installations).
The existing license files will be overwritten or complemented if you have purchased the additional licenses.
After that you should restart Windows or use the utility LMTOOLS, "Start/Stop/ReRead" tab in order to activate the new license:
- ReRead License File (the service MDESIGN License Manager should be started already)
- Stop Server (the service MDESIGN License Manager)
- Start Server
Please notice the messages in the LMTOOLS status line.
